Finally all school’s equipment has been transported to Nabusyongo, in matayos, Busia county. The Multimedia academy has moved all containers that were located in Nairobi to Busia county in western Kenia.

The equipment, which consist of filmcamera’s, audiomixers and other media-related material, is donated over the years by various dutch media companies. However the equipment is outdated, it is still very valuable for training purposes. Because the relocation from Nairobi to Busia in 2021, this transport was necessary.

Below a brief summary of the projectleader in Kenia, who organized this challenging transport:

If we had waited a day after, we would have awaited for another 2-3 months later to do this job, because it started powering the whole day, even as we where loading our last container on the trailer.

This rain surprised whole and the whole nation at large, because all of a sudden in the middle of January when it is supposed to be very hot and dry. It started raining hard for 24hours.

On the other hand the place where we had placed our containers in Nairobi, was sold off and turned into a construction site because this plot was sold off and was also filled with construction materials all over the place, which made it hard for us to lift the containers from this site easily. We had to clear off the stones and other construction materials, before we could lift our containers off from this plot.

Then the trailer could not enter the compound head-on. It had to reverse into the estate through several security gates, for almost two kilometers into the estate and pack just outside the gate.

This made it had because the crane could not lift the container, drive with them and directly place them on the trailer that was packed just outside the gate. We had to again hire a smaller track to take the container through the gate, stand outside, then, lift the container high, let the small track move off and then let the trailer reverse under to where the container is and then the Crane placed the same on the trailer twice, for the two containers.

Now this took a lot of patience, precision and professionalism from these guys. (and especially Mt Karimi Waweru and his two assistant, Wachira and Karioki). I was only looking at safety, doing PR and making the pictures for you guys to see.
